The Scrum Alliance certification program was created to help bridge the gap between reading a book about agile or Scrum and putting those ideas and theories into practice. Mike Cohn of Mountain Goat Software is a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). Only CSTs can offer certified Scrum training courses.

We offer both Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Scrum Product Owner training through public courses or for onsite delivery. Our certified offerings include:

Certified ScrumMaster

This two-day class is a popular way to introduce the fundamental principles of Scrum and provide hands-on experience, not just to prospective Scrum Masters but to entire teams as well. Our ScrumMaster certification courses are among the most popular and well-respected in the industry. Following successful completion of the course, attendees will have the knowledge they need not only to work more effectively on a Scrum team but also to do well on the ScrumMaster assessment. (The multiple-choice assessment is required to become a Certified ScrumMaster, a designation which includes a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance and access to members-only material and information.)

This course counts for 15 Professional Development Units (PDUs).

Attendees receive a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance.

Certified Scrum Product Owner

Just because you now have an agile team capable of moving very quickly doesn't mean they are moving quickly toward the right goal. Product owners are responsible for pointing teams toward the right targets. Our Certified Scrum Product Owner course ensures you have the skills to guide your agile team. Since over 50% of all projects fail and those that succeed deliver products in which 65% of the functionality is rarely or never used, you won't want to miss this course. The Certified Scrum Product Owner course equips you with what you need to achieve success with Scrum. Following successful completion of the course, each participant will be designated a Certified Scrum Product Owner.

This course counts for 15 Professional Development Units (PDUs).

Attendees receive a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance.

About Your Trainer

With all of the Certified Scrum Trainers on the market today, how do you choose the one who is best for you? You want a trainer who is experienced, a recognized expert, and an engaging instructor. Our trainer, Mike Cohn, is all three.

Experience

Mike Cohn has been an active participant (not just a consultant) on Scrum projects since 1995. Mike was VP of Development at four different companies where agile was instrumental to the company's success. Three of those companies were startups and the other was a Fortune 40 company.

Mike has more than fifteen years of experience with Scrum, working in domains from banking and aerospace to video game development—with companies ranging in size from 1 to 400,000. He has the hands-on experience to make his training and coaching relevant to the real business world; it's not just theoretical with him.

Expertise

As a co-founder of the Scrum Alliance and the co-trainer of the first Certified ScrumMaster course, Mike Cohn is a leading authority on Scrum and agile practices and principles. Mike has written not just one book, but three, on the subject of Scrum and agile. Starting with User Stories Applied for Agile Software Development in 2004, then Agile Estimating and Planning in 2005, and most recently Succeeding with Agile, Mike continues to demonstrate his expertise on Scrum and agile principles with the agile community.

Engaging Instruction

Mike Cohn's teaching style combines anecdotes and lecture with hands-on activities designed to help students apply and master the practices and principles being taught.

Your ScrumMaster class was the best project management class I've ever experienced. The concepts were thoughtfully presented, and clearly delivered. While many training classes equate to just “reading the book,” yours was entertaining, succinct, and provided mountains of usable takeaway. Deke Waters, Day 1 Studios
